Fall yellows
and autumn reds gently
dance outside to his final playlist
and life stories. Then, our
lives resume.
Earlier this week, I attended the funeral of my cousin. Even though I had a connection with him, we never really had much contact. Still, I wanted to be there. Also because my mother is the eldest still alive from that side of the family, and I was the only option she had to get her to the location that was quite remote and almost literally in the middle of nowhere. It was a beautiful place, though, with large windows that open up a view to a forest.
The service was also beautiful. A good celebration of a colourful life.
And then, we drove back to our own lives, reminded to keep telling the stories of the ones we lost, but even more to celebrate the lives we live every single day.

Poetry elsewhere
How do you deal with birthdays? A thing to celebrate, fear? Or is it just another day in paradise? In principle, every day is a great day to reflect on life, but external milestones like birthdays are a good moment to put your life in perspective. That’s what
does here in this poem Thirty-Nine:Can life be predicted, or maybe even just explained, through dreams? And can we explore life in new ways, to find better paths? The wonderful poet Ana Maria Caballero explores life, the poetry of Borges and the technology of AI in a new series, of which The Elephant that Foretold the Birth of the Buddha?
It’s evening in the desert, and the things you can see form a beautiful scene for a new chapter or a contemplation of the chapters that came before, or… well, just read how wonderfully this can be captured in poetry if a poet like
is there to record it. Enjoy As Evening Falls:
