Dinosaur
or dragon? It's really
hard to tell. But what’s scaring me most,
the thing I need to know:
who ate it?
Scary, isn’t it? The only thing left of this dinosaur - or dragon - is part of its leg! Well, okay, not a real dinosaur. Or dragon. Just a piece of a thing that was once a toy or something like that and now simply litter. Yes, I know it’s a drop on a hot plate to pick up trash in the street, and we do need a cultural change away from the era of mass consumption and throwing out. But sometimes litter can be turned into art.
Now for the really important question: what do you think, dragon or dinosaur?
Something to listen to
I am repeating myself, but it is not “just because”. The poetry of the Poetry Trapper Keeper poets is worth reading, but they have more to say than just that. And you can hear some of it in the most recent poetry podcast episode:
I love listening to Sunil Bhandari. His poetry readings at Uncut Poetry are lovely. One example, The Complexity of Simple Lives:
To dream away, take a break, create a bubble or whatever your fancy, listen to our playlist for may. Collected by hand, especially for readers of this magazine:
This is one of the photos I used in my most recent NFT, from a poem that was published here in April. The NFT The sea returns is available for purchase now.
Poetry elsewhere
This poem you can also listen to, and please do. For many people, poetry is helping them deal with mental health issues, and this poet is clearly one of them. He could use a bit of support, and the poem is a good reminder of how a bit of kindness can go a long way. You can even buy this poem as an NFT edition. Check out You Are Not Alone.
One place you hardly are alone is in a classroom. Especially the start of the day can be quite not-alone. Alex Price, a wonderful poet and generous poetry community person over on Twitter has captured that in this poem Registration Rap.
Come and visit the wonderful world of a thousand houses, in this magical poem by Joe Triton Schmidt titled Binevlar in May.
Another delightful edition! 😀
The world needs more people like you Arjan :)
