The border
now is hardly marked. Just
a small blue sign where once armed men would
wave you through, or check your
belongings.

Left or right,
the difference is small,
then south we turn, onto the A1.
It is just under two
hours from here.

The coloured
bridge, the mining mountains
the toll stations, the undulating
asphalt lanes - they bring me
home to you.
This tritriplicata triptych is all about driving home. It came to me while I was driving from The Netherlands to France, a route we take regularly. Each part is titled with the what3words location code, so by clicking it, you can find exactly where I found inspiration.
What3words is a cool service. It has the world divided into tiny squares, and each square is labelled with a unique three-word combination. It’s often more precise than street addresses. The service is designed specifically for areas where location is hard to pinpoint, but where it can be a lifesaver to have that specific location. Imagine an ambulance driving to a remote area to find a person in need of assistance.
What do you see on your most travelled route?

Something to listen to
Choreopoems. Have you ever heard of them? I hadn’t until listening to this episode of poetry spoken here:
Of course, there’s also our very own poetry podcast to listen to. The last episode features the poets of Poetry Trapper Keeper and is a lot of fun to listen to:
To close this section in our traditional style, here’s the eclectic playlist for May, hand-collected by yours truly:

Poetry elsewhere
Just imagine surfing on the star clouds of the universe. All you have to do is read this poem and dream: Supernova Surfer.
We all need someone who is there for us when we need somebody. Especially when darkness calls. This NFT collection is about that, and this particular poem, BELIEVE, is there for you.
Sadness is part of life. Poetry can help in difficult times. To divert attention, or to give words to feelings that are holding you down. Sometimes, reading a poem filled with sadness, makes you sad, too. Still, I think it’s important to read and share. Like this one, hi mom it’s a great day today by KS. It struck a note. Read and/or listen!
What3words is super cool!
