Melisma?
A phenomenon I
heard but never heard of, connecting
innovative pop with
tradition.
I've started watching the This Is Pop documentary on Netflix, and it's lovely. It brings familiar songs and new facts. New to me, at least. There is so much to learn about the world around us, the world we grow up in. So many layers behind things so mundane as pop music. It's enlightening.
Even more so when an innovation seen by some as the death of real music, turns out to connect modern (pop) music with old traditions. That is what I love. When we move forward whilst staying connected. I call that living your life facing the future: looking for improvements supported by history having your back. Trying not to make the mistakes of yesterday, to make the world better for the generation of tomorrow.
What about you?

Hi, Arjan!
I've watched a couple of episodes of the documentary This Is Pop!
And I love it!
ABBA and the Backstreet Boys are a few of my favourites!
And to learn about their history and their connection (Sweden) was amazing! :-)
I do enjoy Pop occasionally, not the nowadays Pop music, but the older ones!
