Never have
I before seen basil
in my garden live to flower. Does
practice make perfect? Or,
is it luck?
Herbs in the garden. We like it. The fragrances, and the tastes. Using fresh herbs from your own pots is a nice experience. It helps when the kids like to taste what you grow. Some of these herbs are easy. They are like weeds. Mint and sage grow wherever you plant them. They need not much to thrive. Others are more complicated. The one I find most difficult is basil. Somehow it never survives. Keeping it inside, or outside, it doesn’t really make a difference. Until now. Suddenly, I have a basil plant that is not only thriving, but is now even flowering. I’m just not sure whether it is experience paying off, or just luck. It might be a bit of both: experimenting with different approaches until you find one that works. Now all I have to figure out is what the elements of success were in this case.
What will you try differently this week?
Poetry elsewhere
Do you know that moment, where you realize you are alone, and no one is there to listen to you? Well, I believe that is precisely the place where you only have to turn one more corner, to find… let’s call it home. This poem, by Bob Metivier, is about that. Read Wandered Far From the Beaten Path.
Maybe my basil finally decided to live because it realized humans and compost are about 99% made up of the same stuff. Not sure that this makes sense, but it is a nice bridge to a poem I wanted to share. I found a new newsletter that I really like, and apparently on occasion also has original poetry. Like this poem: Dirt.
As you may have noticed, I am venturing into the NFT space. I’m creating poetry NFTs. One poet that I really like, has been a great inspiration to do this. He is a gentle soul and an uplifting poet. Here is one of his NFT creations, the poem Charity. I love how he is using moving image as backdrop for his poems in this part of his collection The Universe Is Calling.
A poem that speaks about its object but also about life in general at the same time. Well done!
