Last sun rays
sound of waves, sunny days,
stormy days, this never seizes to
amaze. Here I've found my
happy place
The beach never fails to entertain, amaze, inspire and calm me. Especially when it’s not crowded. The sound of the wind, the waves, the birds. Seeing and feeling the water kissing the land. I love it. Beaches have really become my happy places.
Where do you go to wind down, be inspired, be soothed? What is your happy place? Let me know in the comments.

Poetics in life
Recently we went to see a performance of Collectif Sati at our local theatre. It’s a multi-discipline performance, where the artists make music using both regular instruments and self-made ones. The music is the soundtrack to an animated story, they have also created themselves. In the performance we saw, Rick le Cube vers un nouveau monde (Rick the Cube towards a new world), the animation was a special one. It was not an animation as we are used to, but it was created with a game engine so that the characters could be manipulated by the artists during the performance. It was a very innovative and wonderful performance. To get a taste, watch the movie above, which is from a previous performance. I don’t think they used the gaming engine then.
Poetry elsewhere
One of my other happy places is ACM Weekly, a Substack newsletter filled with wonderful poetry. Often, the poems are set in another happy place: a garden in a desert. Please enjoy reading this issue, filled with three lovely poems, of ACM Weekly: Music of Spring
Sometimes, what should be a happy place, becomes a place of nightmares. Unfortunately, this happens too often. And when a poet speaks out about it, especially with one with the skill of James Maynard, it deserves to be heard. Please take note of The ground was Errant made:
Another happy place is anywhere where I can read Marta Gazzola’s multilingual poetry. She creates magical worlds with her words and with her ability to manipulate AI image-creation models. This poem is just one example. Read echoed yearnings (and collect it if you have some ETH).
I loved this post! The ocean is such a powerful place for me.
Gorgeous!
