My kind of stability
Come watch leaves change colour in issue #161 of your weekly dose of crisp poetry
Autumn arriving,
colouring leaves one by one -
change is the constant.
This week I have a haiku for you. One inspired by the changing season. Although summer seems to want to last forever, we can clearly see the change of season by the colours of the leaves in the park. Even though it still feels and looks like summer, time marches on. Always. And the world turns. Always. Nothing stays the same forever.
And that’s a good thing.
Imagine things never changing, perpetually staying in the same state. But where do we take the snapshot? Today? Last week? The beginning of time? Change also means we can do better tomorrow. We bring our experiences of yesterday and today, and learn from them. Change is hard. But change is inevitable. Embrace it. Just as you should embrace all that has come before. Learn from the things that were not good, and savour the happy memories.

Poetics in life
What ingredient or dish is for you the definition of home? Food can take us to so many places: home, beautiful travel destinations, comfort. It’s evoking all sorts of emotions if you just take the time to stop and think about it. In the image above is my interpretation of meatballs in the way it’s served traditionally in The Netherlands. I hope it will be part of that taste of home my children are developing. Now: what ingredient or dish makes you feel like home? Share in the comments, if you like.

:Some poets are at the cutting edge of creative innovation. Yeah, read that again: the cutting edge of creative innovation. They use the newest tools to create art that has never been created before. Sasha Stiles is one of these poets. Her work is changing the way poetry is defined. She adds new layers and dimensions to it, especially in collaboration with her AI alter ego Technelegy. This is just a phrase of a poem they created, UNSTATIONERY: Green is my favorite time of day.
Rivers are constantly changing things, that at the same time are always there. The same, yet different.
