
This bench and a small monument, that’s all that’s left of the village Jacobswoude. Due to the harvesting of peat, the water levels in the area threatened the village. It was moved to another location and what is left of that, is now part of another village. Back in the 18th century, Jacobswoude fell victim to human-induced hyper-local climate change, you could say.
