When a plant
on a riverbank is
where discarded masks decide to get
tangled, we've found modern
world problems.
We, Earthlings, are living through some troubled times. Sometimes it seems we are having to deal with too many problems, where the latest global crisis is just pushing the others out of our attention spans. Now, don’t get me wrong. What’s happening in Ukraine right now is terrible. Unimaginable. And that took the headlines from the very serious global pandemic. So much to worry about, we almost forget other challenges we are facing. Like global pollution. Fortunately, in the EU where I live, single-use plastics are being addressed. But our great rivers are not only carrying plastics into our oceans. And with that, you can be easily confronted when you walk along random river banks. Like the banks of the Seine.

Poetry elsewhere
Nokia was my favorite phone brand. It maybe still is, as far as I have a favorite phone brand. So, when I see a poem about a Nokia phone, I have to share it. This is Ode to My Cell.
I just can’t get enough of poetry that speaks of the sea. Especially not when there are parts in them that make you look at phenomena from a different angle. This poem is an example of that: With the tides.
I’ve written before about the joy of receiving handwritten mail in your inbox. Real-world-mail. Snail mail. A physical piece of paper with ink on it. I do send the occasional postcard, but some, like Suzanne Kiera Anthony, send out LETTERS.
