Dressed up
they come to the
theatre, eager to see
their young stars shine on stage.
School play.
This week our children performed the yearly school play. On a real stage in a real theatre. It was fantastic. The children really were shining bright on stage. A lot of practice had been put in, and it paid off. Of course, the parents, family and friends in the audience were delighted. A great success.
Apart from the success and the great performance, what also stood out was the team effort. During practice, but also during the performance. You cannot carry a show like this by yourself. You have to work together. On top, the older students helped the younger ones. During practice, and during the performance.
It showed that you achieve more by working together.

Have you ever seen La Bohème, the opera? It’s about a poet who falls in love with a lady that eventually gets sick and dies. It’s a story about love and death, it’s beautiful and sad. Maybe you have not seen the opera, but the movie Moulin Rouge. It’s the same story. Sort of. Anyway, here’s another short version.
Animals can be surprising. And great examples to follow. This story of a connection across species is one we should take note of. Don’t see the other as a potential threat. See the other as a potential friend.

Some poets leave you thinking, especially those that are telling a story very well. This poem, death-hand, by Lavinia Vianini is an example of that:
My dear poet friend Ashwini Dodani is having his birthday today. If you get a chance, congratulate him via Twitter. He creates beautiful art and amazing poems and is a kind soul who motivates and supports poets and artists. His latest project is titled Abstractivity. The poem Everything is my favourite of the series. Enjoy reading it.
I always like poems about poetry. Meta poetry I like to call it. It often gives us a look behind the scenes of creating art. David Cohen, AKA Doodleslice, recently posted this gem:
