These mountains,
now a lush, green landscape.
Summer has arrived. The deer, marmots,
flowers, snow-capped mountains,
juniper.
We love the mountains in summer. The Alps are a magical place to spend some time. The atmosphere, the high-altitude air, the people, the nature. It’s incredible. It’s also quite confronting. This part of the world, this what seems to be a pristine bit of natural beauty, clearly shows signs of a changing world. A world in which the eternal snow is slowly melting. Each year a bit more. A world in which the actions of us humans are damningly clear.
And still, the beauty of it all is breathtaking. From the bells of the cows from whose milk delicious cheeses are made, to the rare flowers seemingly making a comeback, to the ever-present majestic Mont Blanc. This place gives you air, this place makes you want to be better.
What’s your magical place?
Something to listen to
Earlier this year, I spoke with Samantha Lazar for my podcast. It turned out to be a very interesting and inspiring episode of my podcast:
If you can understand Dutch, this one might also be nice. It’s a video poetry collection I created for the !Triggr Art Weeks festival in The Netherlands. It was shown there this year, and now it’s also available for you to view. And if you don’t understand Dutch, you can always just look at the pictures:

Poetry elsewhere
This piece is so impactful. One of the most amazing NFT poems I have seen. This is precisely what I love. And you can enjoy it too. You can even collect it. If you have some Tezos. In any case, dive deep into this amazing poem by Ashwini Dodani: Ashes.
An important and exciting event: this year saw a rebirth of the Tour de France for women. It was a wonderful and exciting event, and a good step to more equality in sports. And now, there’s even a poem about it. Read some days by Dane Hammann in derailleur:
Some poets keep breaking boundaries. To me, reading Poetry Trapper Keeper always feels like I’m looking at a future for poetry. I love it. Like this one, what if octopus are the aliens among us? Read it here:
There's a stillness to this particular poem I really admire.
Now we know the answer to the question - are you a mountain person or a beach person? 😀
