Way back in August, I launched a tiny poetry competition. To take part, you would have to write a poem about a place. A precious few did, but then life caught up with me, and I failed to make time to pick a winner and award the prize.
As I am a bookish type, and also currently involved in teaching digital skills at the local library, this poem is very close to my heart. Molly Skeen, the poet who wrote is, is certainly one of my favorite poets. She has her own unique way of doing things, and I admire that. Her poetry is always rather straight forward and feels like a wonderful mix of the poetic mastery of Wislawa Szymborska and the artistic and nature-loving spirit of Beatrix Potter.
For more of Molly’s poetry, please visit her pages on Medium.
Anyway, Molly, thank you for sharing your poetry and for allowing me to share it here.
PS: Molly declined to receive the prize for this competition. So I still have it in stock. I’ll keep it until the next competition.
How fun! Congratulations Molly!
