Corona
managed to stay away
from me, until rather recently
it found my nose and took
taste and smell.
It had to happen one day. It has been quite surprising that it has not happened sooner. And finally, recently, I also contracted COVID. Fortunately, I am all vaccinated and boostered, so I was not super sick. But I did experience a loss of taste and smell. That’s really weird. An interesting opportunity to focus on the textures of the things you eat. And drink.
Good thing is, an infection should have a similar effect as a booster shot, so I should be immune in the coming months.
Have you had COVID? How did it affect you?
PS: The art above is AI art. You give a text prompt to a machine and with minor additional settings, it creates art for you. For these two, I used NightCafé. The prompt, in both cases, was A friendly mutation of the coronavirus, with a Synthwave style.

A series of haiku that discuss NFT, crypto and the metaverse. Some of them are very deeply rooted in crypto culture, others are more accessible for people who are not deep diving into it yet. I particularly liked this one, NFT Haiku - 05 by Crypto Poet AKA Oğuzcan Önver. By the way, please notice the design, it is a reference to examples of fonts, a feature I like very much about this art as well.
We had a blistering heat in Europe this week, earlier this month, the Monsoon kicked off in (parts of) India. Punit Thakkar has written a wonderful poem about that. Read Pitter Patter.
Analyse the tree and see. This poem draws parallels with analysing tree rings. Read dendrochronology by Kristen Lenea Ryberg.
Arjan! Thanks for the shoutout 😀
COVID sucks. I too went through the no taste no smell phase. It's like someone disconnected the wires to the taste + smell circuitry of your body. Get well soon!
AI art is so exciting, I LOVE IT!
I suggest you to try out Craiyon (formerly DALL E Mini) and Midjourney, they are super cool tools as well.
Informative and inspired - get well soon and keep being creative :)
